AT&T and Autonet Mobile Team Up on New Connected Car Capabilities

AT&T 4G LTE wireless connectivity will power Autonet integrated connected car services they provide to car makers. Autonet Mobile is a provider of Internet-based telematics and application services designed for vehicles.

Drivers use Autonet Mobile’s integrated telematics solution, based on the Autonet TRU Technology/App platform, to control their connected cars remotely through an app on their smartphone. They can lock and unlock a vehicle remotely, manage teenage driving through parental controls, check car health reports to keep it in top shape, use in-car Wi-Fi and more. The benefits that Autonet Mobile offers to car makers are over-the-air updates and vehicle diagnostics. Autonet Mobile currently provides connected car services to Chrysler Fiat Automobiles, General Motors, Maserati, Subaru and other major auto brands.

In 2014, AT&T launched two major initiatives to lead innovation in the connected car market. The first was a pioneering connected car innovation center in Atlanta, called the AT&T Drive Studio. The second was a new global automotive solution and development platform, now called AT&T Drive.

AT&T Drive Studio features a working lab and showroom to build and exhibit the latest innovations. It also serves as a hub where AT&T works directly with companies and responds to automakers’ opportunities.

AT&T Drive is the company’s connected car platform – a modular and flexible, global solution that allows automakers to pick and choose what services and capabilities are important to them. AT&T Drive can be used for connectivity, billing solutions, data analytics and infotainment.
